Liverpool 'make approach for Max Eberl' to be their new sporting director, but 'face competition from Bayern Munich' to appoint the former RB Leipzig man

Liverpool have reportedly approached Max Eberl over becoming the club's new sporting director.

The Reds are on the hunt for a new director with current man Jorg Schmadtke signing only a one-year contract after replacing Julian Ward.

Eberl is believed to be high in demand, with BILD reporting that Jurgen Klopp's side will go head-to-head with Bayern Munich to secure the 50-year-old's signature.

He has been out of work since September after being sacked by RB Leipzig, with the club citing a lack of commitment to the role following links with a move to Bayern while he was in the role.
