Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler leaves his job as manager of Australian side Brisbane Roar because of the 'ongoing coronavirus situation' after he flew back to England in March when the A-League season was suspended

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler will not be returning to take charge of Australian club Brisbane Roar when the A-League season restarts next month.

The former England striker and his assistant Tony Grant went home to England in March when the season was suspended because of the Covid-19 outbreak.

And on Monday, the club confirmed that Fowler's time at the club had come to an end because of the 'ongoing coronavirus situation'.

The former England star took his second job in management with the Australian side last year

'We are disappointed that the global pandemic has impacted our plans together but completely understand that family comes first during these difficult times,' vice-chairman Chris Fong said in a statement.
