Liverpool face nervous wait over fitness of Jordan Henderson as Reds prepare for significant lay-off to captain following adductor concern in Everton defeat as injury woes continue for Jurgen Klopp's side

Liverpool fear Jordan Henderson faces a significant lay-off as the club’s nightmare season with injuries took another miserable twist.

Captain Henderson was forced off after 30 minutes of the Merseyside derby with an adductor issue. The 30-year-old was being pursued by Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure when he pulled up sharply and crumpled to the ground.

He will have a scan today to determine the extent of the damage but Liverpool are braced for a lay-off of several weeks and are resigned to Henderson missing the second leg of the Champions League last-16 clash with RB Leipzig on March 10.
