Liverpool director target Jorg Schmadtke's transfer hits and misses

Liverpool fans are currently scouring the internet for details on the man set to be their next sporting director.

It has long been a source of speculation over who will replace Julian Ward, the current incumbent, since he stated his intention to step down last November.

Liverpool had been linked with a number of candidates, including Paul Mitchell, who is currently with Monaco.

But Jorg Schmadtke, 59, a well-respected figure within German football, received a solid recommendation from manager Jurgen Klopp during discussions with club owners Fenway Sports Group and is now heading to the formalities of a contract.
