Legal bill for the Hillsborough disaster inquests hits £100 MILLION

The total legal bill for the Hillsborough inquests now stands at more than £100million, it emerged today.

Lawyers representing the victims were paid £63.3million out of public funds, while legal teams for South Yorkshire Police were paid £25.1million, according to figures released this week.

The running costs of the two-year inquests into the deaths of 96 football fans were around £20million, of which £9million was paid to lawyers for the coroner.
