Klopp ready to trigger Timo Werner’s £50m release clause

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly set his sights on signing compatriot Timo Werner in the summer, with the RB Leipzig striker available for £50million due to a release clause in his contract.

The Premier League leaders have had three relatively quiet transfer windows, mainly signing youngsters and filling squad gaps, though did bring in Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg in a cut-price £7.25m deal in January.

But they might be about to delve into the coffers once more, with Sport Bild reporting that Klopp has greenlit a summer move for Werner.

The Liverpool boss is keen to bring in more firepower in the summer and wants a player who can provide cover and competition across the frontline.
