Jurgen Klopp says signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was a 'long-term thing' as Liverpool boss prepares to hand ex-Arsenal midfielder first start

Jurgen Klopp is ready to unleash Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and believes his £35million signing will be invigorated by the 'relief' of life away from Arsenal.

The England midfielder has made three substitute appearances for Liverpool so far but Klopp will start him tonight in the Carabao Cup tie at Leicester and is looking forward to it, after reporting that Oxlade-Chamberlain has 'settled in perfectly'.

When he arrived at Anfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain repeatedly said he wanted to 'make the next step' but Arsene Wenger, his former manager, once said a lack of self-belief was the reason the 24-year-old had not made the steps he and others had hoped.
