Joel Matip left out of Liverpool's squad for Plymouth tie as Jurgen Klopp opts to err on the side of caution in row with Cameroon

Jurgen Klopp has erred on the side of caution and decided to leave Joel Matip out of Liverpool’s squad for the FA Cup replay in Plymouth.

Liverpool’s manager had wanted to give Matip his first appearance since December 11 at Home Park but his hands have been tied by a dispute with Cameroon.

Klopp took advice from Liverpool’s legal team and the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, as weighed up the consequences of playing Matip while FIFA are involved in a row over his eligibility.
