Jeremy Corbyn has told thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters at a rally in London that they 'must condemn' the Israeli army's actions in Gaza.

The former Labour leader addressed pro-Palestine supporters in the capital as people armed with placards demanding Israel 'stop bombing Gaza' took to the streets in protest across major UK cities including Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Speaking to the crowds in London, where the Met Police said they have deployed more than 1,000 officers amid fears of clashes, the independent MP for Islington North said: 'It is a day of solidarity and it is a day of hope.
