Safe standing is safer than having fans standing in seats, according to the London Evening Standard’s Tony Evans.

The issue of rail seating has been brought to the forefront recently as Liverpool fans’ group Spirit of Shankly warned its members it had to discuss the topic as they risked being left out of the conversation.

Liverpool fans are obviously in a uniquely difficult situation regarding the topic of safe standing, because of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, but Reds fan Evans believes rail seating is actually safer than the current set of circumstances.
