'It was hard because we wanted to play football': Bruno Fernandes admits frustration of Manchester United players after Liverpool game was postponed due to violent Old Trafford protests - but insists it's in the past as stars look ahead to Roma clash

Bruno Fernandes admits that it was hard for the Manchester United players to see their game against Liverpool called off due to violent protests at Old Trafford.

However, the Portugal star has played down comparisons between Sunday's ugly scenes and an incident he experienced as a Sporting Lisbon player in 2018 when a large number of fans attacked the team and staff at the training ground over poor results.

As well as the clashes between police and fans at Old Trafford, a separate group of protesters turned up at the Lowry Hotel to make sure the team bus could not leave.
