'I'm trying my best to make sure Thiago stays': Bayern Munich star Alcantara 'wants to try a new league', admits boss Hansi Flick amid growing links to a £32m move to Liverpool

Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick admitted he is hopeful of convincing wantaway midfielder Thiago Alcantara to remain with the club.

The 29-year-old midfielder has recently expressed his desire to leave, which was confirmed by CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and has been strongly linked with a summer move to Liverpool.

Thiago came off the bench with just three minutes remaining in Bayern's 4-2 win against Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal final on Saturday, but Flick is adamant he will attempt to entice the star to stay put.

With his contract set to expire in 2021, it appears the former Barcelona youth product is desperate to add another chapter to his rich career.
