'If you think about this, I think you are going to have issues': Virgil van Dijk is not haunted by injury after missing out on Euro 2020 with ligament damage... but wants people not to 'worry' or 'focus' on his fitness in lead-up to the World Cup

Virgil van Dijk is refusing to 'focus' on not getting injured in the lead up to the World Cup this winter despite him missing Euro 2020, Holland's last major tournament.

The Liverpool centre back spent 10 months on sidelined with knee ligament damage after a tackle from Everton's goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in a Merseyside derby.

That serious injury ended his hopes of being involved in Euro 2020 but Van Dijk believes worrying about injuries means he is 'going to have issues'.

'I can only speak for myself and I wouldn't worry about me,' Van Dijk told reporters ahead of Nations League matches against Poland and Belgium.
