Iconic images: Liverpool's first league champions

Throughout LFC's 125th anniversary year, Liverpoolfc.com will retrace the club's history through the striking images that plot a fascinating journey. Second in the series is a team photograph of the Reds' first title-winning side.

On Monday April 29, 1901, Liverpool travelled to West Bromwich Albion for their final game of the season knowing that a draw would be enough to seal the club's maiden league championship.

An 11-game unbeaten run that began with a 1-0 win over title rivals Sunderland had seen Tom Watson's men reel in the north-east club at the top of the First Division table.
