Herbie Kane: Liverpool midfielder joins Barnsley as Cauley Woodrow signs new deal

Barnsley have signed Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane for £1.25m on a four-year contract.

The Premier League champions will retain a 15% sell-on clause for the 21-year-old, whose only first-team games were in last season's Carabao Cup.

BBC Sport understands Luton Town, Hull City and Portsmouth were also keen on signing the ex-England youth player.

Meanwhile, Tykes striker Cauley Woodrow has extended his deal until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Woodrow, 25, has scored 31 goals in 74 league appearances since initially joining on loan from Fulham in August 2018.

He had been linked with a possible move to Championship rivals Cardiff City.
