England boss Sarina Wiegman wins top UEFA gong as Real Madrid DOMINATE the individual awards, with striker Karim Benzema and boss Carlo Ancelotti crowned - but Lionesses star Beth Mead is beaten to women's award by Alexia Putellas

England manager Sarina Wiegman has been named women's UEFA coach of the year after leading the Lionesses to their European Championship triumph.

'Now we are looking forward again, hopefully we qualify for the World Cup and then next year we go to the World Cup and try to improve the game, perform ourselves and enjoy the game,' Wiegman said.

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was named UEFA Player of the Year and Carlo Ancelotti took the coaching honours after they led the club to a record-extending 14th Champions League title last season, as part of a LaLiga and European double.
