Watch the dramatic moment an old World War II bomb is detonated in a popular park after it was unearthed by police.

The controlled explosion took place in New Brighton, Merseyside, in a park known as The Dips, just after 2pm today.

Rail services were terminated and roads were closed after the device was found in the park at around 10.30am.

Residents were told they were not allowed to walk on the grassy area heading towards the roundabout, as the Army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were escorted to the scene to handle the bomb.
