Conor Benn primed for big step up against former welterweight champion Chris Algieri as rising British star targets world title fight next year

Rising British star Conor Benn and former world champion Chris Algieri took to the scales ahead of their eagerly-anticipated welterweight showdown at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England.

Benn, 25, tipped the scales at a shredded 146 ½ pounds on Friday, while Chris Algieri, 37, weighed 146 pounds for just his second career fight outside the United States.

Benn has fought twice - and won twice - this year, with a first-round knockout of Samuel Vargas in April followed by an assured 12-round display against Adrian Granados in September.
