Erik ten Hag has confirmed Bruno Fernandes will remain Manchester United's vice-captain despite his petulance during Sunday's 7-0 thrashing by Liverpool.
The United manager defended the Portuguese star, describing him as an 'inspiration for the whole team' after he was heavily criticised by fans, pundits and even team-mates for his performance in the Anfield humiliation.
Asked if Fernandes would retain the armband when captain Harry Maguire isn't on the pitch, Ten Hag said: 'Yes, definitely. I think he's playing a brilliant season, he's played an important role in the position that we are.
