Belgian Pro League match between Anderlecht and Genk to be REPLAYED after VAR wrongly ruled out disallowed goal from penalty rebound

A full replay of a Belgian Pro League match between Anderlecht and Genk has been ordered following an error by the video assistant referee (VAR).

The incident took place during Genk's 2-1 loss to Anderlecht at Lotto Park on December 22, where Yira Sor scored from a rebound after a missed penalty.

VAR disallowed Sor's goal, citing encroachment by Sor himself in the penalty area but overlooking encroachment by two Anderlecht players.

Genk filed an appeal, arguing that VAR misapplied the rules, and their appeal was upheld.

According to Law 14.3 of the International Football Association Board, if both defending and attacking players encroach during a penalty kick, the penalty should be retaken regardless of the kick's outcome.
