Sassuolo defender Francesco Acerbi has revealed he was closer to joining Inter Milan than Leicester City this summer.
The Italian was linked with a move to the King Power Stadium during the most recent transfer window after deciding he wanted to leave.
Leicester, though, reportedly had a £12m bid rejected by Sassuolo in July and Acerbi has explained the Foxes were not really in the running.
Instead, the 29-year-old has admitted he was closer to joining Inter Milan and even now he still wonders what could have been.
"I had decided to leave Sassuolo and Inter seemed all done, but the situation got complicated and I did not understand why," Acerbi told Gazzetta dello Sport.
