Money CAN'T buy success! World's richest footballer, 23, has contract at Portuguese side Maritimo RESCINDED after the nephew of the Sultan of Brunei – who is worth £16billion – fails to make a single first-team appearance

The world's richest footballer's dream of making a career in the game has been dented with the announcement he is leaving his current side.

Faiq Bolkiah shot to fame after he was signed up by Southampton's academy and had spells at Arsenal and Chelsea before signing a three-year professional contract with Leicester.

The nephew of the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, who is reportedly worth a whopping £16billion, moved on to Madeiran side Maritimo after being released by the Foxes last summer without making a single appearance.

On Tuesday, Bolkiah's hopes of his big break took another battering with the news his contract with the top-flight Portuguese side had been rescinded.
