Manchester United 4-1 Leicester report: Dropping Wayne Rooney pays off as Jose Mourinho's men blitz champions

Paul Pogba scored his first goal for Manchester United as they thrashed champions Leicester at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.

Jose Mourinho opted to drop captain Wayne Rooney after two consecutive defeats and the decision was fully justified as United produced their best performance of the season.

All the goals came in the first half, with Chris Smalling, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Pogba all netting in a stunning 23 minute spell before half-time.

Leicester grabbed a second-half consolation through Demarai Gray.
