Like night follows day, a cup competition exit follows a frustrating Manchester United performance.

On Sunday evening an insipid Red Devils were weakly dumped out of the FA Cup by a dominant Leicester City side.

This was at the quarter-final stage. Beforehand United's four previous competition exits - excluding the Champions League - have come a round further in the semis.
