Leicester captain Wes Morgan returns to training after run of 50 consecutive games ended with rest against Derby

Leicester captain Wes Morgan is back in training on Thursday having been given extra days off as rest by Claudio Ranieri ahead of the club’s crunch game at Swansea.

Morgan was missing from Wednesday night’s FA Cup victory over Derby due to Ranieri’s desire to provide recuperation, bringing to an end a sequence of 50 consecutive Leicester games where the 33-year-old has played all 90 minutes.

Sportsmail understands the centre-back has not been required to attend the training ground since Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United that left Leicester mired in the relegation scrap, and Ranieri hopes the recovery period will give Morgan a lift for the crucial fixture in south Wales.
