The striker moved to the King Power Stadium on transfer deadline day from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of £28m.
The 28-year-old already has two goals in as many games for his new club and he has now revealed that his Algeria team-mate, Mahrez, played a key role in persuading him to join Leicester.
"Obviously, Riyad being here was a big factor, but there was so much more," Slimani told Leicester City's official match day programme.
"Riyad is a very talented player, but he is also a good friend of mine and I knew him well from our time together with Algeria.
