Frank O'Farrell: Former Manchester United, Leicester and Torquay manager dies aged 94

Former Manchester United, Leicester City and Torquay United manager Frank O'Farrell has died at the age of 94.

O'Farrell was chosen by legendary United boss Sir Matt Busby to replace him at Old Trafford in 1971, but was sacked after 18 months.

A former West Ham and Preston North End player, he was capped nine times by the Republic of Ireland.

In a statement, United said they were "deeply saddened" to learn of O'Farrell's passing.

"While Frank's 18-month reign at the United helm was an undulating affair, there is no shred of doubt that he was a talented manager and a man of unimpeachable integrity," added the Old Trafford club.
