Brendan Rodgers claims Leicester can't rely on ‘irreplaceable’ Jamie Vardy forever and that they must sign a player with his characteristics in the summer

Brendan Rodgers has warned that Leicester will soon no longer be able to rely on ‘irreplaceable’ Jamie Vardy as they have throughout his career.

Speaking for the first time in detail about Vardy’s evolving role in his squad, Rodgers revealed Leicester will look to add a player with Vardy’s characteristics in the summer – and Sportsmail revealed on Thursday that they believe they have won the race for Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard.

Vardy can claim to be the greatest player in the Leicester’s history and helped them to their remarkable Premier League title triumph in 2016 – but the 34-year-old had hernia surgery earlier this year and is in the middle of fallow run of form that has brought just one goal in his last 13 matches in all competitions.
