Source: Eli Apple, Raiders agree to contract in NFL free agency

The Raiders took a bite out of free agency to boost their secondary.

Las Vegas agreed to a deal with free-agent cornerback Eli Apple, a source confirmed to NBC Sports Bay Area's Scott Bair on Wednesday.

Bay Area News Group's Jerry McDonald was first to report the news.

Bair reported Tuesday that the Raiders wanted to add a cornerback to start opposite Trayvon Mullen. Apple started all 15 games for the New Orleans Saints last season, but the 2016 first-round pick has never picked up a Pro Football Focus coverage grade higher than 64.
