Report: Raiders signing Lamarcus Joyner, potential starting safety

The Raiders continued their tear through the NFL offseason Monday night, reaching an agreement with former Rams safety Lamarcus Joyner, NFL Network first reported.

Joyner’s deal is for four years at around $10.5 million per year, according to ESPN.

The Raiders now have a strong contender to start at safety, something they badly needed with 35-year-old Reggie Nelson’s future up in the air and Marcus Gilchrist set to hit unrestricted free agency on Wednesday.

Joyner most recently played free safety for the Rams, the team for which he’s played his entire career since 2014. Joyner started 15 regular season games and all three playoff games at free safety last season en route to the Rams’ Super Bowl loss to the Patriots.
