Raiders hire Chip Kelly: You feeling it?

Related Topics: Chip Kelly, Oakland Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders made a big move Sunday as new head coach Pete Carroll has hired Chip Kelly away from Ohio State as the offensive coordinator.

It was a big, surprising move as Carroll and the Raiders made Kelly the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the NFL to sway him away from the national champion Buckeyes.

Kelly, 61, is a well respected offensive mind known for his innovation.

He certainly has the experience and reputation as a strong offensive mind. He has 10 years as a college head (at Oregon and at UCLA) and Kelly, who former Raiders coach Antonio Peirce tried to hire last year, has four years experience as an NFL head coach

However, he has been far more successful in the college ranks and he hasn’t coached in the NFL since 2016.
