NAPA -- Mario Edwards Jr. won't need surgery, but Raiders coach Jack Del Rio said he will be "out awhile" after suffering a hip injury in the team's exhibition opener.
The second-year defensive end went down on Oakland's second defensive series of Friday's 31-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals.Del Rio declined to give any updates on Edwards after the game, but relented Monday after two reports leaked out over the weekend indicating Edwards had a hip strain that will cost him 4-6 weeks of action."Mario is going to be out a few weeks," Del Rio said. "That's unfortunate, but he will return, and it's not going to require surgery.
