Oakland Raiders sign franchise sack leader’s son

The Oakland Raiders signed a franchise legacy, Wednesday, in undrafted free agent defensive end Greg Townsend Jr. from USC.

Townsend’s father is the franchise sack leader with 107.5. He played for the Los Angeles Raiders from 1983-93, and again in Oakland during the 1997 season.

The younger Townsend said he remembers seeing Raiders Hall of Famers Tim Brown and Marcus Allen throughout his life. He said he remembers stories told by his father, but Townsend would not have guessed he would play for Oakland himself.

Townsend Jr. played five years with the Trojans.
