Oakland Raiders: Sean Smith ready to lead young secondary

Former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith was brought in by the Oakland Raiders this March on a big-money deal in free agency to do exactly one thing, rebuild a laboring Silver and Black secondary that has been amongst the worst in the NFL since general manager Reggie McKenzie took over the front office. Smith becoming the first big-money cornerback in the McKenzie Era to be signed by the Raiders, putting plenty of pressure on the former Chiefs starter to deliver on a $38 million contract that has $20 million guaranteed.

Coming in to reverse the narrative around a young secondary that has been a point of frustration for Raiders fans for years now, Smith knows that it is his job to help carry the torch as the leader of the cornerbacks.
