Longtime Raiders’ rival Marty Schottenheimer dies at 77

Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers players always knew it was Raiders Week with Marty Schottenheimer.

His message early in the week was always clear and concise: “Punch them in the f-ing mouth.”

Perhaps sans Mike Shanahan, there was no greater rival coach for the Raiders over the years than Schottenheimer. He has died at the age of 77 after a long illness.

No coach won more games against the Raiders and few enjoyed doing it more than Schottenheimer, who had two remarkable stints in the AFC West, with the Chiefs and Chargers.
