J’Marcus Webb made 16 starts along the Raiders offensive line last season. Most of them came at right guard, a new spot for the career tackle working under offensive line coach Mike Tice.
The position shift provided a steady, yet unspectacular presence on the right that seemed to be a one-year thing. Upgrades were required there, and signing Kelechi Osemele to a big-money deal was a big one. The Raiders also have 2015 fourth-round pick Jon Feliciano in the mix, and could play right guard if the versatile Osemele ends up at left tackle.
While there was some interest in him as a reserve tackle, there wasn’t a sure spot for Webb any longer.
