The Miami Dolphins agreed to terms Friday with free-agent safety Nate Allen, the team announced. Allen played the past two seasons with the Oakland Raiders.

But a potentially career-ending neck injury to former Dolphins safety Isa Abdul-Quddus, who was waived Friday, leaves a hole to be filled opposite Reshad Jones. Allen is a journeyman safety playing on his third team in the past four seasons.
What it means: Allen will have a chance to compete for a starting job this upcoming season.
