While Oakland signed Lamarcus Joyner in free agency, he is projected to primarily lineup in the nickel leaving Paul Guenther with just Karl Joseph and Erik Harris as safeties. The addition of Johnathan Abram significantly improves the depth of the secondary, as he can immediately step in as a box safety. Abram has solid range, but his best attribute is his physicality as he can set the tone of a defense with his style of play.
