There were multiple facets to the Oakland Raiders offense last season that was absolutely abysmal. However, if there was one glimmer of light on that offense in the passing game, it was newly acquired tight end Jared Cook.
He was quarterback Derek Carr’s security blanket for a good portion of the season. He was also the only productive tight end on the roster in both receiving and blocking.
It was shocking to see how good Cook was at times, most notably his games against the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs. When the Raiders signed Cook, he was just another weapon for Carr, and he certainly wasn’t expected to be a top option receiver, but then again the offense wasn’t expected to fall off like they did.
