Raiders Rumors: Michael Crabtree Meets With Oakland, Best Fit?

Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree has seen his value decrease significantly in teams' eyes over the first few weeks of the 2015 NFL free agency period, but that didn't stop the Oakland Raiders from hosting Crabtree on Monday.

Per Marc Sessler of NFL.com, "it's the only known visit for Crabtree outside of last month's meeting with the Miami Dolphins. Whispers of interest from the Redskins, Chargers and Jaguars haven't developed into anything more than chatter."

Crabtree opened up free agency looking for a contract in the neighborhood of $9 million per year, but such a request isn't going to bear fruit for a wideout who has been banged up with a litany of lower-leg injuries.

However, if the Oakland Raiders can secure Crabtree on a low-risk, low-cost short-term flyer, don't be surprised if GM Reggie McKenzie pulls the trigger and brings him in for a training camp look at the very least -- especially with the team's need for wide receiving help remaining a top concern/priority as we inch closer to the 2015 NFL Draft.
