LEXINGTON - Auburn quarterback transfer Joey Gatewood does not know when he will be able to play for Kentucky football.
In his first interview with local reporters since enrolling at UK, Gatewood confirmed on Wednesday he is pursuing a waiver from the NCAA to let him play immediately in the fall. He is uncertain of his chances at having the waiver granted. He is unsure if Auburn, who is on UK’s 2020 schedule, will support his efforts to avoid the normal year on the sideline required of FBS transfers.
