With Jaland Lowe still nursing a shoulder injury, Kentucky had to look in another direction for point guard reps against Bellarmine on Tuesday. That allowed the opportunity for freshman guard Jasper Johnson to step up and take the reins.
Johnson, the 6-foot-5 Lexington-native, played 22 minutes on Tuesday, most of them at point guard. He finished with 11 points and seven assists, including going 4-for-8 from the field and 3-for-5 from three-point range. While Johnson might be considered a more natural two-guard, he looked the part playing point guard.
“I’m always comfortable,” Johnson said postgame.
