LEXINGTON, Ky. – There were legitimate reasons to wonder if Lamar Thomas was the right fit for Kentucky’s football staff before UK announced Tuesday he would not return next season.
Hired at UK on the reputation of recruiting Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson to Louisville, Thomas was not credited as the lead recruiter on any player that signed at UK in his two years on staff, according to the 247Sports database.
The wide receivers reduced the number of dropped passes under his leadership, but the position never overcame the losses of Jeff Badet and Dorian Baker this season.
