LEXINGTON — It is time for Kentucky football fans to learn how to pronounce freshman running back JuTahn McClain’s first name.
It’s “juh-TAWN” with the emphasis on the second syllable and the first syllable pronounced like “Justin.” During UK’s coronavirus-shortened spring practice, McClain opened his first interview session with local reporters by asking they clarify the pronunciation.
After recording his first career carry in the fourth quarter against Mississippi State, McClain is poised to have his name called more frequently moving forward.
“It’s kind of like one of those things we always talked about with Benny (Snell),” UK offensive coordinator and running backs coach Eddie Gran said of McClain this week.
