Why Kentucky coaches said lopsided loss to South Carolina isn't on backup QB Kaiya Sheron

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kaiya Sheron turned around, and South Carolina had the ball on Kentucky's 2-yard line.

Sheron said he didn't see the botched reverse handoff from Chris Rodriguez to Barion Brown to open Saturday's game against the Gamecocks. He said he was focused on being Brown's lead blocker, but an ominous roar from the crowd at Kroger Field told him something had gone awry. Only 13 seconds into his first collegiate start, and the redshirt freshman from Somerset was tasked with engineering a comeback.

If that was supposed to rattle Sheron, he said it didn't work.
