Why John Calipari thinks UK's SEC Tournament loss to Tennessee was a 'godsend'

INDIANAPOLIS – Despite insisting his team was in “really good shape” despite its Southeastern Conference Tournament loss to Tennessee Saturday, Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari deviated from his normal coaching plan this week.

With an emphasis on fresh legs and fresh minds, Calipari generally decreases practice time as the season goes on. But in the leadup to the No. 2 seed Wildcats’ NCAA Tournament opener against No. 15 seed Saint Peter’s Calipari has returned to full five-on-five scrimmages.

The reason? Calipari acknowledged Kentucky is still searching for its rhythm after the return of starting guards TyTy Washington and Sahvir Wheeler from injury.
