This preseason AP poll is unlike any preseason poll they have ever done before. After 80 years and 1,103 polls, the AP has compiled a Top 100 list. The Top 100 reflects a simple point system.
- Poll Appearance = 1 Point
- Number 1 Ranking = 2 Points
- AP National Champion = 10 Points
Even though the Cats have never been ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll, they still made the Top 100 at No. 68. Kentucky’s never been ranked higher than No. 3 in the AP Poll, which occurred the week before Kentucky lost to Tennessee in 1950, a surprisingly hot topic in recent weeks.
