Kentucky Basketball and Football crossover season is upon us. I made the trip to Lexington this weekend for the basketball exhibition vs. Purdue on Friday and the football game vs. Tennessee on Saturday; the dichotomy between the two programs could not have been more glaring.
Let’s start with the good. Kentucky ran No. 1 Purdue off the floor Friday night. It was an exhibition, sure, but it didn’t feel like it when the ball was tipped at a sold-out Rupp Arena. We knew this Kentucky team could be good — it has a reported $22 million price tag, after all — but seeing that much promise this quickly was jet fuel for a fanbase eager to return to dominance.
