Walker Wood to back up Sawyer Smith if Wilson out for year

The 6’3 junior was 5/9 for 76 yards and two touchdowns with his first pass being a strike to Ahmad Wagner for his first touchdown.

My next question after seeing Smith throw was who would be his backup? On his postgame show last night, Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops said that redshirt sophomore Walker Wood would be Smith’s backup should he be needed.

So who is Walker Wood? Well, Wood is a 6’0 Lexington native that is a 2017 graduate of Lafayette High School. He was rated as the #20 dual threat QB in the nation and the fourth best prospect in the state of Kentucky.
