The Kentucky Softball team is now 3-0 on the season after a successful double-header this afternoon at the 2022 Northern Lights Southern Nights tournament in Leesburg, Florida. Let’s recap how it all went down.
Game 1: Kentucky vs. Michigan State
The No. 19 ‘Cats defeated Michigan State 7-0 in their first game of the day on Friday. Stephanie Schoonover got the start on the mound for Kentucky. Schoonover pitched the full seven innings, allowing only three hits. She threw six strikeouts and walked just one batter out of the 26 that she faced.
Renee Abernathy got things started offensively with a triple down the right-field line in the first inning, scoring Lauren Johnson and Kayla Kowalik.
